Andrew (2016 PhD, American Studies – Yale) is a scholar of counterculture, psychedelics, and insurrection. His greatest interests are in the weird techniques employed to interrupt domination; how people use cultural tools to fight cultural battles. In choosing what projects to undertake, he pursues both expertise and education by prioritizing skill acquisition alongside knowledge production. It is his aim that all of his work, even if tangentially, be in service to the struggle. He has been formed by the thinking and teaching of Rachel Rubin (UMass Boston), Michael Denning (Yale), Stuart Hall, and the Birmingham school of British cultural Marxism.
Currently serving as the Curator of a psychedelic history exhibit at Harvard University’s Houghton Library, he often gives talks and is available for consulting on curation of exhibits and events.
